Site Updates

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Hi again. The forum and downloads area have been updated. The forum now includes "personal messaging" and the downloads has been fixed so all dud downloads actually work. Images have been added where available. I'm going to put back many of the other popular files, but if there is one you are missing let me know and I'll add it. The Personal Messaging functionality allows you to send a message to any other member of the site. It only works when you are logged in, but you will see a box on the left of the main page showing if you have messages. Click on the link to send messages to others. Play nice, kids! I'll be adding back a classified ads section soon, adding another reason to use PM.

The downloads area has been expanded to include a complete set of Supermarionation-era fonts, TV Century 21.com desktops and even a set of icons.

Ed Bishop and Mike Billington have died

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

In a grim co-incidence, two of the main actors from the UFO TV series have passed away within days of each other. Mike Billington passed away on monday and Ed Bishop passed away on wednesday.

Not much is known about the circumstances, but it will certainly come as a shock to fans of UFO and Captain Scarlet, where Ed Bishop voiced Captain Blue.

The Fanderson site has a detailed report on these events as well as more of the history for both actors. Both actors were scheduled to appear at the convention this autumn. We offer sincere condolences to their families.

Torchy, Four Feather Falls on DVD Finally!

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Finally after oh-so-many years, some of the early shows from Gerry Anderson are finally available on DVD in the UK. Torchy the Battery Boy and Four Feather Falls are both available with all episodes. Sadly, The Adventures of Twizzle has few remaining episodes, so a DVD release is unlikely.

The company doing the release, Network, is also re-issuing Supercar on DVD. Network has a reputation for doing superb DVD releases, so all of these should contain plenty of goodies and hopefully the Supercar DVD even contains something new.

Protectors season 1 now on Region 1 DVD

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
The live action 1972 series "The Protectors" is finally out on DVD in the US. The DVD set consists of 4 discs with all 26 episodes from the first season. Not a lot of extras, but there is a photo gallery and a commentary for one episode.

The Protectors season 1 DVD set is available at Amazon for about $72. Something to tide us over until the Four Feather Falls DVD comes out later this year...

Report on the Annual Toy Fair in London January 2005

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
This was an occasion I had been looking forward to for quite some time. After so little on the Anderson front in recent years, this year had scope to be much better with both the much-heralded new Captain Scarlet CGI series, and the 40th Anniversary of Thunderbirds.

So it proved to be.

Images have now been added. Some documents have been added to downloads and images added to gallery.

Captain Scarlet CGI to air in February!

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Image In a move that surprised everyone, it was announced that the new "Captain Scarlet" CGI series from Gerry Anderson is to commence broadcasting in the UK on February 12 2005. It was generally thought that the show would air during the autumn of 2005, so is a pleasant surprise indeed. The announcement was made at the London World Toy Fair on January 27th 2005. The first series will consist of 26 episodes, of which the first 13 are complete, so this initial run will just be a preview for the show, which will be repeated in September along with the final 13 episodes. The show will air on ITV as part of their "MOM" programme. A detailed report on this as well as details of merchandise announcements at the fair will appear here in a few days.

Unpublished Christine Glanville Photos!

We have received some photos of puppeteer Christine Glanville in action. These photos were taken about 10 years ago by Mike Joyce when he was working on "The Pig Attraction". It was a chat show with a difference for the presenters and guests were all famous puppets from the past and present, from Basil Brush to Roland Rat and beyond.
