In a grim co-incidence, two of the main actors from the UFO TV series have passed away within days of each other. Mike Billington passed away on monday and Ed Bishop passed away on wednesday.
Not much is known about the circumstances, but it will certainly come as a shock to fans of UFO and Captain Scarlet, where Ed Bishop voiced Captain Blue.

The company doing the release, Network, is also re-issuing Supercar on DVD. Network has a reputation for doing superb DVD releases, so all of these should contain plenty of goodies and hopefully the Supercar DVD even contains something new.
The live action 1972 series "The Protectors" is finally out on DVD in the US. The DVD set consists of 4 discs with all 26 episodes from the first season. Not a lot of extras, but there is a photo gallery and a commentary for one episode.
The Protectors season 1 DVD set is available at Amazon for about $72. Something to tide us over until the Four Feather Falls DVD comes out later this year...

In a move that surprised everyone, it was announced that the new "Captain Scarlet" CGI series from Gerry Anderson is to commence broadcasting in the UK on February 12 2005. It was generally thought that the show would air during the autumn of 2005, so is a pleasant surprise indeed. The announcement was made at the London World Toy Fair on January 27th 2005. The first series will consist of 26 episodes, of which the first 13 are complete, so this initial run will just be a preview for the show, which will be repeated in September along with the final 13 episodes. The show will air on ITV as part of their "MOM" programme. A detailed report on this as well as details of merchandise announcements at the fair will appear here in a few days.
We have received some photos of puppeteer Christine Glanville in action. These photos were taken about 10 years ago by Mike Joyce when he was working on "The Pig Attraction". It was a chat show with a difference for the presenters and guests were all famous puppets from the past and present, from Basil Brush to Roland Rat and beyond.
