If you live in the UK and prefer to watch Thunderbirds off the air as opposed to on DVD, I have good news. Every weekday at noon, BBC2 is broadcasting the show. First episode aired on Thursday July 27th with the pilot episode, "Trapped in the Sky".

Apparently, it is being broadcast in s-t-e-r-e-o which may mean that rather naff version with the cheesy surround sound effects. If you missed the first episode, fear not tomorrow is another day and of course, another episode.

FINALLY. The "second series" of New Captain Scarlet will be released in the UK on September 18th. This will consist of the final(?) 13 episodes of the show. The first 13 episodes were released some time back and it certainly has been a long time coming. The new set sells for £30 but for those wise enough to hold off on buying the first series will really reap the benefit as they can get both series for only £35. Way to stick it to the fans. Either way you look at it, its a great show and well worth picking up. You can pre-order the series 2 DVD from Amazon UK for only £22.49.

A "new" book by Sylvia Anderson is due to be published in October 2006. This is apparently an "all new" book, but may contain material from her earlier book, "Yes M'Lady". However, as it has been at least 5 years (I know someone will correct me) since the publication of the earlier book, its entirely possible that this really is all new content.

The book will be published both in paperback and in hardback. For die-hard fans, a limited edition SIGNED version of the hardcover will be available from FAB Gear USA when it is published. 208 pages and at least 200 photographs should make for a very interesting book. I can't wait.

Well, it seems that the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Modeller volume 1 did OK, so here comes volume 2. This issue contains 100 pages of modelling articles including scratch building an Angel Interceptor from Captain Scarlet and a scratchbuild Zero X replica. Other article topics include Blake's 7, Star Wars and the new Doctor Who (finally on in the US!).

Several interesting news items to share. UFO is being broadcast in the US in High Definition on the "Family Room" VOOM satellite channel. As the show was not shot in 16:9 aspect ratio, the channel has cropped the top and bottom of the frame! The Corgi Captain Scarlet/New Captain Scarlet cars are now available in the UK. I was sent a link to a short video clip which shows what appears to be a promo/teaser for a 2004 THUNDERBIRDS show. Probably killed due to that wonderful movie. Work the visit: Movie clip. Sadly, we lose another from the APF years. On April 13th John Read passed away. He was one of the founders of the APF studios. John Read worked on all the shows from Torchy the Battery Boy all the way to Doppleganger/Journey to the Far Side of the Sun. On the various productions he worked as camera operator, lighting cameraman, cinematographer and producer. He also worked on the early live action movie "Crossroads to Crime". In the 1970s he was producer on the popular childrens TV show "Cloppa Castle". Our thoughts go to his family and friends.

Not so much a news piece, as a bit of fun. I set up an account on Frappr for all TV21 visitors to mark where you reside. It should be a very interesting experiment, as I suspect we are all over the world. All you need to do is go to this page and indicate where you live. It does not go down to the street level, you just specify the nearest town. Should be very interesting to watch it grow!
