Stingray about to be re-launched!

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Remember the rumour about a CGI production of a Stingray movie? Well it appears that the show is still in production. Apparently, they are producing a movie and maybe a mini series. A trailer has been made, so stay tuned, perhaps it will be available here soon...

FAB 1 sells for 80 Grand!

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Oh I was tempted. Very tempted. The auction house Cooper Owen, sold an original Studio model of FAB 1 on Ebay this July. It is the puppet-sized one built for the first Thunderbirds movie, "Thunderbirds are Go!".

There were 124 bids and the winner got the car for a cool 80,000 pounds, about $147,300. The model is 8.5 feet long and 3 feet wide and has been on display many times, including the Blackpool exhibit.

Photos of the model and more details can be seen on this page on ebay.

This was good/bad timing for me as I just sold my house and could actually have won the auction if, that is, I no longer wanted to own another house later, or indeed stay married... Oh well, enjoy the car, zinc04, you lucky person.

Dreamwatch magazine features Gerry Anderson interview

When it rains, it pours. In addition to the previously reported Gerry Anderson special edition, UK magazine Dreamwatch features an interview with Gerry. This is issue 119. Naturally, he is discussing the Captain Scarlet CGI show currently in production. Incidentally, it now appears that there will be 26 episodes when the show airs some time in the Autumn of 2005. Just over a year to wait... I think it'll be worth it.

TVZone magazine has just published a Gerry Anderson special - #57. It includes info on the new Captain Scarlet CGI show currently in production. See some of the interview here.

A second CD of Thunderbirds music is due out on July 19th. It is available from Amazon UK. The CD includes music from "30 minutes after noon", "End of the Road", "Duchess Assignment", "Terror in NYC" and "Give or Take a million". This looks to be an excellent CD.

Oxford University Press is publishing "Thunderbirds X-ray Cross-Sections", which features high quality computer art showing exploded views of the new Thunderbirds vehicles from the forthcoming movie. 7.99 paperback, but 6.99 HARDCOVER at Marks and Spencer.

If you are going to the San Diego comics convention this July, There will be a Thunderbirds fan gathering entitled "Thunderbirds Fans United are Go!". Will include a panel. July 23rd at 1:30pm, room 9 in the main convention building.

Bummer. The link to the new CGI trailer has been removed from the site. Sorry about that folks. If I get permission to host it here, I will let you know.

Thunderbirds movie CDs

Varese Sarabande has plans to release Thunderbirds are Go! On CD once more. Whether this is the LP or also the Cliff Richard parts and/or never released incidental parts is unknown.

MGM USA will release a Thunderbird Six music CD. This will coincide with the release of the two films on DVD in America. The CD will contain all incidentals of the movie (approx. 45 min all together) as mono tracks.

It was high time - the soundtrack has been awaited for almost 40 years. It is a pity the album contains mono tracks only although the stereo masters still exist. So there is still room for improvement on a hopeful future release.

The Anderson convention previously announced for July this year has been postponed until October. Further details as they emerge.

Thunderbirds magazine suspended

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
The Thunderbirds magazine/DVD from DeAgostini appears to have been suspended. Apparently, 6 issues went out but they are ceasing production. The reason is unknown, but apparently the Prisoner magazine has also been stopped. There are no plans to resume publication.

What really peeves me, personally, is that I went to the DeAgostini site several months ago and subscribed. I have yet to see a single issue! Nice one.
