Here is a news update from Ralph. This includes a status on the Supercar documentary currently in production (FULL BOOST VERTICAL) as well as information on the convention later this year.

You may be aware that an independent group are producing a documentary on the making of Supercar for commercial release on DVD. Yesterday I spent a fascinating afternoon with the producers watching a 90 minute rough cut of their film. Even without film clips, stills, graphics and captions it was a brilliant piece, with a lot of time and effort going into gathering together as many of the production staff and voice artists that were available for interview,and its quite a few! The early days of supermarionation are also covered in this film, as well as looking at the production of Supercar in both a factual, and reminiscing way, as various individuals recall their days at A.P.Films, and some return for a tour of Ipswich Road Studios..

Included within the documentary are: David Elliott, Roger Woodburn, John Read, Mary Turner, Des Saunders, Julien Lugrin, Hugh and Martin Woodhouse, Bill James, Bob Bell, Arthur Provis, Alan Pattillo, Alan Perry, John and Jean Taylor, David Graham, Graydon Gould, John Blundall, Bill Harris and Martin Bower.

This weekend we have also filmed some of Barry Gray's music manuscripts for this documentary, and have selected a few interesting sound bites from Barry's recording sessions for Supercar.

It is hoped that this release will be ready for the upcoming Gerry Anderson convention, being held in Milton Keynes in July. Details of this event can be found at http://www.tenthplanet.co.uk/fabtv/. Whilst this is not a Fanderson convention, the guest list is quite impressive, and could prove to be a very interesting weekend indeed!
