Thunderbirds for PS2
Hot on the heels of the Captain Scarlet game for the Sony Playstation 2, we now have a Thunderbirds game for the PS2.
Again, this seems to be a budget title for £10 and is UK-specific Region 2 encoded, so if you live outside the UK (like me) then don't even think of buying this.
For those in the UK, all I have to say is: you lucky lucky bastards.
Unless of course the game is crap. Only time will tell, the game gets released on June 7 2007.

Fanderson Sector 25 event: Day 2
Here is the second half of my detailed review of the Fanderson Sector 25 convention.
Another day at the convention. In my case, another 2-ish hours heading there via train and lots of walking. Oh the walking....

Fanderson Sector 25 event: Day 1
In October 2006 Fanderson held their Sector 25 convention in London. This article is PART 1 of a 2 part article on the event. PART 2 will be posted next week. This is a fairly long article. Photos are in the gallery, but I'll try to link in some photos when I post PART 2.

Just in time for Christmas - Captain Scarlet for the PS2!
I got a very interesting email this week. It turns out that a Playstation 2 game based on Captain Scarlet (original version) has just been released in the UK.
The game description:
- Get behind the wheel of the Spectrum Patrol Car and the Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle for high-speed, mission-based combat racing in exotic locales.
- 3 Modes of play - Pursuit, Escape And Race
- Explosive weaponry - Machines Guns, Rockets, Mines and Bombs
- Features the iconic Spectrum Patrol Vehicle as well as the Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle
- 16 Adrenaline filled missions
- Includes a remixed Captain Scarlet music track.
The game is available from Amazon UK for £9.97.
Sadly, I doubt this game will be available outside the UK, but for fans of the show with a PS2, this should keep things interesting during the holiday season.

New Captain Scarlet Series 3? Not likely
I get several emails a week asking if I know anything about a series 3 of New Captain Scarlet. After attending the Fanderson event in October (yes, I will be posting my review and hundreds of photos soon) I came to the understanding that there will not be a new series.
Why? Well, in the UK, the broadcast was handled in a terrible manner which pretty much guaranteed it to get low ratings. It was broadcast in the middle of a live kids TV show which is (by all reports) really irritating to watch. Not only that, but at least the first ones started and ended with no warning and the episodes were cut into 2 sections with no indication of when the next part was to be aired. It was hard even for die-hard fans to watch, let alone people who had not seen the show.

Thunderbirds almost took off again
Another bit of somewhat old news, but I keep getting emails, so I'm doing a post about it. A couple of years ago, some work was done on a test (not a pilot as previously stated) for a new version of Thunderbirds. This one was to be a combination of computer animation and physical puppets/models. Certainly an intriguing idea. Sadly the project was put on hold when the Granada /Carlton merger took place.
One of the production team has a blog post online here which talks about the production and even includes a short quicktime trailer. Interestingly, the blog is by the man who was to be the Executive Producer of the show. Seems weird to have someone else as the producer of a Thunderbirds show. But then again, it has happened before. Sadly, this one looks like it had some potential.
His main site can be found here .
If anyone knows any more about this, please drop me a line...

Gerry Anderson Guide updated
Admittedly this info may be old news to some of you, but Chris Bentley's superb "Complete Gerry Anderson episode guide" book has been revised and updated. It has been issued as a softcover version. The original book is still available and was published as a hardcover. Oddly the cover does not inform the reader of the difference. It is only on the back that this is mentioned.
The book has been updated with numerous revisions, mostly concerning "New Captain Scarlet", but is decently priced and if you don't have the earlier copy is absolutely worth picking up. Of course, I had to get it when I was over the Fanderson convention, even if just to get Chris to sign it. Chris is, of course the chairman of Fanderson. He certainly knows his stuff.
The book is available in most bookstores, and of course at Amazon UK. Price is £19.99, but at Amazon UK its a little over £13.00.
