Andersonic Issue 7 now available

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

The fanzine "Andersonic" has just published issue 7. The magazine comes out every 3-6 months and is a labour of love. All of the content is original, with many interesting articles. There is some quirky stuff, but the price is incredibly reasonable and it a must for Anderson fans. The latest issue includes an interview with Dominic Lavery (New Captain Scarlet) about his design and directing experiences. Also included in issue 7:

  • APF Memories - one fan's recollections of the studio's 60s heyday.
  • Close Up - is the music the best thing about it?
  • Alpha Incident Log - Strange goings on with a jewelled asteroid...
  • The Fastest Guy Alive - Fireball XL5 overview.
  • The Spirit of Thunderbirds - what the film missed and any new series shouldn't forget.
  • The Infernal Machine - Classic episode review: Sentient computer seeks new Companion: apply Box 1999.
  • Alec Freeman Character Study - there's more to Alec than you think.
  • Black Sun - classic episode review
  • Star Fleet/X-Bomber - the Japanese puppet series with a few things in common with Anderson's series.
  • Titan Goes Pop - is it anything to shout about? Like, yeah man!
  • Reviews - Barry Gray Centenary Concert and Doppelganger DVD.
  • Things You Do - ...when you're a fan.

New Book: "Filmed in Supermarionation" due early 2009

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Producer, and now author, Stephen La Rivière, recently announced that he has just completed writing a book about the 1960s years of the Gerry Anderson productions, from Supercar to Secret Service.

The book is to be titled "FILMED IN SUPERMARIONATION: A HISTORY OF THE FUTURE" and is due out early in 2009. There is no cover as yet, but it is already available for pre-order from Amazon UK for £26.99 and (probably incorrectly priced) from Amazon USA for $26.57. It is the result of 4 years of work, including exhaustive research in addition to interviews with remaining cast and crew.

The book will be full colour and available in both hardback and softcover editions. If the name of the author sounds familiar, its because he is the chap behind the wonderful "Full Boost Vertical - The Supercar Story" documentary DVD which came out a few years ago. I found that a very interesting documentary and fully expect this book to be both revealing and almost certainly controversial as it will challenge some of the "well known facts" of Anderson lore.

Not so much an official press release, than a series of teasing tidbits, the full book announcement is included after the jump.

Product Enterprise goes upscale

The UK company that made so many decent and affordable models from the Gerry Anderson universe has now re-branded itself as Iconic Replicas Limited. What does that mean to you and me? Well, in a nutshell, most if not all of the "lower end" models have been discontinued and they are now focusing on larger, more detailed models with limited runs.

Full details on this along with the updated lineup after the jump.
