LADY PENELOPE
THE FIRST LADY OF TELEVISION
One of the star attractions from the television series Thunderbirds has emerged powerfully as a merchandising character in her own right. We refer, of course, to Lady Penelope, the imperturbable lady of high fashion, complete with stately home, who can be as deadly as she is beautiful.
Her ladyship's right-hand man, chauffeur and butler, Parker, is another powerful personality.
Lady Penelope licences range from jewellery sets, tea sets and fashions, to guns and cars and we are still being approached by manufacturers in all fields.
Her very own comic appears weekly as a companion publication to TV Century 21 and the circulation has reached enormous proportions unheard of previously in this field. Little girls, big girls and we wouldn't be surprised if many Mums follow her adventures eagerly and study her mannerisms and way of dress.
She has become a heroine to the female population and quite a few of the lads are more than a little keen too.
The major licensees using this product are reporting strong sales throughout the country so it looks as though everything with Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward is simply "fab" as she would say. She can rest content in her stately home, delicately sipping Parker's special brew of tea.
