The cover of this special supplement to "British Toys" gives you a pretty fair idea of what Century 21 Merchandising Limited is all about. We have a story to tell . . . a story of success ! And success for us means even bigger success for you the manufacturer, you the wholesaler and you the retailer.
In the following pages we are going to outline that success and introduce you to our plans for the future. And so, as we stride purposefully into 1967 with a brand new company name, to bring us in line with the other companies in our group, we are opening our shop window to you all.
Under our former title, A. P. Films (Merchandising) Ltd., we brought you such tremendous merchandising successes as Dr. Kildare, Fireball XL5, Stingray and, of course, those two fantastic lines in 1966, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Thunderbirds !
Before we go further into details of individual properties let us introduce you to the team, based in central London, who are at your service to bring you every possible aid towards getting the best out of your merchandise.
Heading the company is a vigorous enthusiast, our managing director, Keith Shackleton. His early work has taken the company to the top of its field. He has carefully nurtured its growth, which has been more than considerable and widened its scope to include properties outside our homegrown products. Thanks to his efforts our range has something to offer in the way of merchandise for all age groups and our outlets are extended considerably outside the pure toy field.
Keith Shackleton has gathered a team of fellow enthusiasts around him over the years, with the emphasis on the word team. With Mr. Shackleton at the controls the company falls basically into two sections now. On one side we have the pure merchandising business department concerning agreements, territories, etc., which is headed by Derek Cook. The other section deals with the creative side of things, ideas for licensees, approval and initiation of artwork, etc. This department is run by Jim Watson.
Both these departments work in close collaboration to bring you the best possible service. In the absence of any of the above, one can always call on the services of Roger Caton, a widely experienced young man who knows his job thoroughly and has worked closely with both departments.
