Friday Night with a tow truck
So friday night we are hanging around in downtown prescott. Nice meal at Gurley St Grill. Took dogs for walk etc. Another walk around the square and then it hit.
The car would not start. This is a 2006 Honda Pilot. Not exactly a car you would expect to die for no reason.
Would not start.
Passers by offered to help and we even did some over-the-phone diagnosis. It was not a dead battery as the headlights went on fine. Apparently it was the “neutral safety switch” which is designed to stop you starting the car while it is in gear. Long story short as we have Honda Care we called them and got a tow.
Lucky for us Mary (friend) lent us her car for the evening so we could drive home. What a pal.
Long story short, next day we spoke with the Honda dealer who showed us the remnants of the after market alarm system which had disabled the car. This was an alarm that Bell Honda tried to sell us and we declined it. They removed part and left the rest in. The wires frayed and boom, for no reason no startee.
Got it sorted and only a minor inconvenience, but what if we were far away from home? Geez.
