Publications

Thunderbirds comic

In 2001, Redan in the UK started publishing a Thunderbirds comic. The comic features new artwork by Lee Sullivan (interview) and each issue comes with a free gift. Each issue also comes with a simplified version of one of Graham Bleathman's cutaways. The main problem with the comic is that it is aimed at a very young audience, something like 5 year olds. The comic is still publishing and is at about issue 15. It publishes once every two weeks.

New collector cards

CardsInc has a set of Thunderbirds cards and now has a set of Captain Scarlet cards available. They also have many "add-on" packs. The cards are of higher than average quality.

Toys

Stingray toys from Vivid Imaginations

Vivid seemed to miss the Stingray promotion last year but is making up for it in 2002 with a Stingray playset. Details and photo soon.

Thunderbirds toys from Vivid

Vivid Imaginations has been extremely busy with merchandising from the Gerry Anderson shows. 2001 and 2002 has seen a significant amount of items available. While some appear to be practically reissues of earlier items, many are completely new and quite desireable items. They started out with a small range of vehicles and some 12" figures. They have now moved on to augment this with more figure and larger plastic vehicles.

Large Plastic toys

These are large scale toys. They are about a foot long and come with a small figure and a related accessory. Thunderbird 1 comes with a small Scott and his control setup. Thunderbird 2 comes with (guess what) Thunderbird 4. Thunderbird 3 comes with the sofa! For more on these toys, read this article.
