Collectibles

On 17th September 1996, Phillips of London had another Gerry Anderson-related auction. While lacking the stars of the first "celebrity" auction with Lady Penelope and Captain Scarlet, some interesting items did turn up.

I was not able to attend the auction, primarily as I live in USA, but I was lucky enoough to get someone to bid there on my behalf and came away with two lots: 247 and 390.

The two most notable lots were 383, a replica of the Troy Tempest puppet from Stingray and 384, an original "Parker" puppet as used in the show Thunderbirds. The rest of the lots consisted of various collections of merchandise from the 1960s all the way up to items still available in some stores. The table shows the lot number for each item, a description of the contents of each lot, the expected final bid and, where possible the final sale. A significant amount of the bids have "X" in that field as they did not make it to auction, probably because they were sold prior to the auction.

Further information on some of the items in these lots can be found in the pages of TV Century 21. There is an article on die cast toys which features the Dinky models .
