UK – Day 5: Save more with Wickes
Not the most thrilling day today, but at least we got out for a while. For some reason the internet keeps going down, so any checks and posts have to be carefully timed as the DSL connection goes down within 3 minutes. Bloody annoying if I’m honest.
After the excitement of sitting around for several hours, we eventually went out to see the town of Rustington in all its glory. Now, by “all its glory”, I should probably back up a bit and say its a very small town. I did see an Aston Martin weaving to the main road, so that was nice. So many of the cars here are tiny by American standards, even the Aston Martin looked huge.
It gets dark so early here. I know we are further up north, but it gets dark at 4:30, which is crazy. It doesn’t get light until 8am, so I feel like I need to make the most of the time that is daylight. Great for vampires though.
After wandering around the shops of Rustington, we headed toward Littlehampton and found our way to a home improvement/DIY store. The name: Wickes. Its a bit like a Home Depot or Lowes in the US, but 80% of the items are all own branded, so as you can imagine, I had a bit of a field day looking for souvenirs from my visit. I settled on a multitool thing and screwdriver. Both with “Wickes” on the side. That should stop people “borrowing” them for an extended period of time.
Oh, its dark again, so time to head back for lamb stew and EastEnders…
