UK – Day 4: Chichester Chichester Bang Bang

Well after the non-fatal breakfast today, we went for a drive in the rainy mist and ended up at a small shopping area with a pet store, electronics store and department store.

Shopping is very different from the states, as they have huge malls and huge stripmalls everywhere. In England, you put them where they fit. We went into a pet store which had a barn owl with a handler. The owl was flying around and was quite majestic. There were also sooper-cute bunnies with floppy ears. OMG. I didn’t know whether to pet one or get one for dinner. 🙂

At a nearby store, there was a ton of what I can only describe as crap. Think of Big Lots and a dollar store. But also there was a lovely suit of armour for only 500. I didn’t get it though, as I feel it might push my baggage allowance too far. Lastly on my shopping excursion, I went to a department store called John Lewis. Its quite upscale and had some very nice hardware in their electronics department. They had a Samsung 55″ 4k TV on display. The picture was amazing, albeit somewhat over saturated and constrasty. What was remarkable was that they cycled though some footage of NYC, Chicago, Boston, Utah and Prescott. Yes, Prescott, specifically Watson Lake, about 5 minutes from my house.

To get lunch, we headed into Chichester and on the way, we passed Arundel castle. It looked amazing, so I’m going to head there some time while I’m here.

We walked through the cobblestone streets of Chicester and we walked past the cathedral. Found a nice pub where I had a steak and kidney pudding. Chips and peas! yes. For Americans, this is not a dessert, but a meat pie-thing with a kind of doughy pastry. Yes, I know you are all salivating profusely, but take it from me, it was actually pretty good.

After that, we walked back through the streets to the car. The sun was going down and the lights were on. It actually looked very pretty in Chichester. There was a stall with just local cheese. It was lovely to see. No samples though. Very rude, I think.
